Halloween
So this was a blog due a long time ago I think not sure but we need these for the Pre-Face so I am making sure that mine are done. I think that people during the sixties dressed like so called hippies to make a fashion statement and to express themselves. I am not sure that they would be offended at people dressing up like them for Halloween yet I am not sure that they would agree with it as well. Dressing like that is what defined some people of that time and maybe it's a new fad that will come back. Who knows? The world is going to crap again and it's time for change.
Argument Paper Topic
So yeah I think we were either supposed to email you, which I did, or write our topic on this. Well my topic for my paper is going to be lowering the drinking age to 18. There are so many things and controversies surrounding this issue it seems a good one to tackle.

12 Angry Men
The deliberation in the movie 12 Angry Men is a very good description of what actually goes on in a real setting. It shows you how that in a serious situation, you really need to deliberate and think about what you are deciding. The thing that I like about juror number eight is how that even if he is not sure that the boy is guilty or not he does feel he has a reasonable doubt and that's what not guilty really means. As long as you have a reasonable doubt you can't vote guilty and I think that is what he is trying to convince the other people about. I really enjoy how he uses his architect skills to evaluate the situation and use his reasoning to determine if what the people testified is true. The old man who is great by the way also does the same thing by noticing the details of the witnesses. The arguments are effective because they appeal to the better nature of people and actually make them think about if he is guilty are not.

Sex Signals
I went to the thing Sex Signals because we were required by my University 101 teacher. Although it began very funny and was mostly improvisation, you could tell towards the end that it was scripted. That's when it was the most boring and getting on the topic of rape was something that many didn't want to touch. Although, the next day in University 101 our teacher made a very good point in saying not one time in the skit did they mention using a condom, which I thought was a very good point. Here they are telling us it's okay to have sex, but not mention a condom? I definitely thought this to be a big eye opener because she did make a good point. I wouldn't be the one to say it was a good experience to go to because they made points about things we already know. However, being something that was required to go to, it could have been worse.

Creative Paper Topic
My creative paper topic will be on fashion focusing mainly on Twiggy entwining the feminists movement. Working out all of the kinks will be the hard part. The main reason I am picking fashion is because Twiggy made her mark on the fashion industry and still lives up to that reputation today. Plus, it's a real easy topic to be creative with.

In Country Bobbie Ann Mason
In Country was a book of many characteristics. With twisting plot, the book takes many flashbacks throughout. The author tries to convey her point through an eighteen-year-old girl who is in search of her father's identity who in turn is in search of her own as well. She leads us on what seems like a forever journey. Being a fan of horror novels, especially Stephen King, this book was not a favorite of mine. However, this book is not to be taken lightly. It has very mature parts in it that young minds shouldn't have to experience. With many themes entwined, it definitely makes for an "okay" reading for college freshmen students.

"Illusions are Forever"
A perfect quote form the story is "When traditional signals of authority are so misleading, how can we know what's for real?" The quote turns the prospective around allowing for the reader to answer "truthfully". The entire story is based upon the word "truth". So, what is "personal truth"? Its defined as your own opinion of the matter, I think. It's hard to tell what Chiat's underlying meaning with his quote on technology. I believe he does mean that the Internet helps us in determining a personal truth. It allows us to decide on our own what we believe in and not what someone else wants us to believe in. I believe that people should accept their own personal truth rather than allowing those in power to influence it for them. By allowing those in power to influence your truth, a person's realm of ideas is influenced therefore taking away a true meaning to a person's own truth. My personal truth may be different than yours however, if unaffected by those in power both truths have a meaning to them that can not be disputed.
